Biography
Harry Thomson is a Musical Director, pianist, conductor and arranger working extensively across musical theatre, orchestral concerts, and commercial entertainment in the UK and internationally.
A graduate of Edinburgh Napier University (BMus with Distinction), his work spans major touring productions, regional theatre, cruise entertainment and large-scale orchestral projects. Harry is currently the Musical Director on the Scandanavian Tour of A Night of Famous Musicals and Associate Musical Director and Pianist on UK Tour of The Music of John Williams vs Hans Zimmer. Recent credits include roles as Musical Director, Assistant MD, conductor and keyboardist on recent productions such as Sleeping Beauty (Princess Theatre, Torquay), Summer: The Donna Summer Musical (NCL), Jack and The Beanstalk (His Majesty's Theatre, Aberdeen) and Cats (International Tour).
His concert and symphonic work includes engagements with the Great British Film Orchestra, London Concert Orchestra, International Film Orchestra, Scottish Pops Orchestra, and productions including The Music of James Bond, Symphonic Queen, Paddington in Concert and Concerts by Candlelight.
Harry also works extensively in the cruise industry as Musical Director for companies including Carnival UK (Cunard and P&O), Norwegian Cruise Line, Azamara Cruises, TUI and Explora Journeys. His credits cover ship music management, conducting production shows and backing international guest entertainers. He has also worked as vocal director and install MD across Cunard and P&O for the Headliners Academy and Royal Court Theatre Company.
As an arranger and orchestrator, he has contributed to pantomimes, touring theatre productions and commercial entertainment projects. He is proficient in MainStage, QLab, Ableton and Sibelius, and experienced across musical-theatre, jazz, rock, pop and classical styles. His principal instruments are piano, keyboard, organ and accordion.
